Soundfiles of almost any digital format can be played directly from the hard disk An audio input can be "streamed" into the module. Either can be loaded to a memory buffer.
When a sound is played from a memory buffer, there are more processing options.
The module provides controls for processing the sound. For each module, you can change the volume, pan, pitch, add delay, filter the frequencies, ring-modulate the sound with a sine wave, and use up to three VST plug-ins.
This is the simple idea behind Girl. A module hosts a soundfile, an audio input (e.g. a microphone), or a VST instrument, and enables the user to generate an incredible diversity of sound from even the most mundane source.
A Sound Equals A Module.
