MIDI controls make the Girl environment tactile and wonderful, freeing you from the tyranny of the mouse. MIDI control options are vast and exciting. Most effects and many program operations (such as switching files, folders, and recording audio input) can be controlled with MIDI. Using a MIDI keyboard and/or sliders make Girl a terrific sound performance instrument.
You can use Girl for DJ'ing (using a 4-channel sound card, you can send a module's output to "live" or "monitor" channels), creating synchronized beats and dubbing them up. Provide a strange electronic edge as a member of a group, improvise music as a solo performer, or even share a MIDI beat clock and synchronize with other laptop musicians. Additionally, many third party MIDI controllers and sensors make Girl an excellent platform for sound-sculpture installations.
